Great Mental Health Day Connections and Local Support

Writer's picture: Jon SalmonJon Salmon

Great Mental Health Day is a London-wide initiative and the aim of the day is to get everyone talking about mental health and wellbeing to raise awareness of local services available to Londoners all year round.

Time To Talk Waltham Forest Project Lead Jon Salmon, worked with Mental Health Volunteer & Member Coordinator Linda Cairns of CREST Waltham Forest to produce a powerful film short film 'Connections' by Beth Evans, founder of Messages of Hope.

With help from Cinematographer Nick Cooke, they have produced a really powerful and thoughtprovoking short film 'Connections'.

The project was supported and commisioned by ThriveLDN as part of Great Mental Health Day with funding from the Mayor of London.

Speaking about the film, Beth Evans, founder of Messages of Hope, said: “Connections explores how we can find hope through connection. We set out to capture Londoners writing messages of hope for people struggling with their mental health and we discovered just how connected we truly are. Connections is proof that somebody out there really does care about you. None of us are alone.”

Jon Salmon said "It was wonderful to see 100s of people come together, writting Messages of Hope, and we are so proud for Speakers Collective to support this project."

The Making of Connections for Great Mental Health Day

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said:  “I am delighted to support Thrive LDN’s Great Mental Health Day, and encourage Londoners to get involved in the hundreds of free events that are taking place all over the capital.

Londoners across the city can get involved by accessing the Great Mental Health Day interactive map on Thrive LDN’s website, exploring a range of free training and webinars, or use the hashtag #GreatMentalHealth on social media to share your own plans for the day.
